About
The Siemens S25 was created in 1999, by Siemens (obviously!). It was this brand's top of the line when it appeared, and has become somewhat of an icon for Siemens. Namely, it has:
Dark silver front case, in the exact same colour as the S35. There's also a rarer dark blue version.
Dual band.
97x54,
4-colour (
)
display, capable of 6 lines of text. This was the first dual band mobile with this characteristic.
White backlight. Like the colour display, was unique in 1999.
Lithium-ion battery (Li-Ion): lighter than Ni-MH, and doesn't lose capacity when it receives partial charges.
Vibration, also called "silent tone", although in this case it should be called "fog horn" (have you ever heard one vibrating?).
Modem, for surfing on the Net at the astounding speed of 9.6 Kb/s (I'm being sarcastic; and it's kilobits, not kilobytes).
Infrared interface (IrDA): for communicating with other devices, it eliminates the need for cables.
Voice memo, with capacity for about 20 sec. of recording.
WAP 1.0, doesn't work in some countries (at least Portugal).
Alarm and organiser, with simple, diary, weekly and annual memos.
Games, with, among others, Minesweeper; it benefits much from the colour display (I can't play it on x35 Siemens phones, with monochrome displays).
43 different ringtones, one of them being customisable through the embedded melody editor or a connection to a PC or a PDA. They're monophonic, and play through a dedicated speaker in the back.
Customisable operator logo, only through a connection to the PC or PDA.
Support for the Siemens USB MP3 player. It's curious how can an accessory like this one work with a mobile that was conceived some years before, but I've tried it and it works!
