We're back! (again) |
|
After another near-two-year hiatus, Siemens25 is back, once again... This site was hosted at my ISP's server, to avoid having all those irritating popups generated by free hosting services (I simply hate those, and I don't want to enforce them on anyone). I changed ISP, and down went the site... The new ISP was a bit trickier to configure, but I think the head-banging is done.
Anyway, a quick update for those that have been living under a rock during this time... BenQ screwed up the Siemens mobile division, BenQ Mobile (who manufactured the BenQ-Siemens phones) declared bankruptcy (the official term here is "insolvency", but what matters is what happened), so there will be no more mobile phones with Siemens technology.
On another, more personal, note (but still on the news updates issue): my personal collection of Siemens phones is now worthy of the designation "collection", with 21 phones (three of which aren't at 100% functionality, though), ranging from an S10 to an SXG75. If anyone's interested, I shall take a "family photo" and post it here.
As for Siemens25, I decided to sort of "freeze" it: maintain it online, but without publishing updates. The S25 is almost 10 years old (wow!) and has become more a collector's item than an everyday phone. Therefore there aren't many people any longer looking for frivolous stuff for it like logos and ringtones. However, the site is still a homage to what is certainly the best mobile phone of its time, and so it deserves to exist for as long as it can.
So, have fun exploring the site and discovering stuff about the S25! If you want to contact me, send comments, etc., you can ask directly at the forums I participate (here are some of them). There's a lot of nice and knowledgeable people there who may reply, in case I'm not fast enough.
P.S. My friend Iver made a fun, addictive, simple, and, best of all, free online game: Paper Racing! Click on the image below, register, and have fun! |

We're back! |
|
Geez, almost two years have gone since Siemens25's last update! The site has been stopped, even down for the last weeks, but not dead yet. Much has
happened in the meanwhile, and the most important concerning Siemens has
four letters: BenQ. As everyone probably already knows, Siemens sold its
bleeding mobile phone division, which will be called BenQ-Siemens (BQS)
for the next five years. After that, there will probably be only BenQ
Mobile. The link to the new brand's site can already be found in the
navigation bar above:
Speaking of the navigation bar: yes, Siemens25 has got a new look! I call it "version 2.5", because practically all the content remains; I just corrected some outdated information. I hope the new format is easier to use, while it allows better indexation by search engines. Another new feature is the fansite section, with links to many interesting sites created by fellow fans of Siemens phones. If you're listed here, you may want to have your own banner: just e-mail me with the banner's URL and I'll change it. If you have a fansite not listed here, feel free to tell me about it, and I shall add it. Of course, there are new logos! You'll most likely find old ones in different places, as I've renamed them to either English or Portuguese, and the logo pages are now automatically generated by a custom script (I used to have to do everything by hand!), which sorts them according to the new names. You may expect some more logo changes in the next few days, as I haven't finished renaming (and, in some cases, retouching) them. I'm also planning to add some internal pictures of the S25, for those of you with more technical skills. Those will be for professionals, so don't try it at home! Oh, and before I forget: my e-mail address has changed. It is now siemens25@oniduo.pt. Theoretically all e-mail links at Siemens25 have been updated, but, in case you send something to the old address, it'll still reach me (and that includes spam as well, unfortunately). That's it for now (as if it wasn't enough)... Now go and explore the "new" site: I'm waiting to hear your opinions, criticisms, logo/tone submissions, etc.! |

A few corrections |
|
Hah! This time, it didn't take so long for a news update! There's not much new here, excepting for, as today's headline says, some corrections. This time though, they're more technical and less cosmetic. First of all, the "water" applet for the English news section now works. After posting the last update, I noticed that somehow it didn't work anymore, and now it's fixed... just a case of bad configuration. In other words: my fault. Second, Vigo asked me to correct the information about the logos he sent. It's done too. Third, Siemens25 now finally has a hit counter! It had one some time ago, but CJB.net, the URL forwarding service I use (which also provides the guestbook and the forum), abandoned it. Now I know again how many (or how few) people visit here! Thanks for the tip, kallemax! :-) As usual, there are a few new logos scattered around the categories, but I leave you the pleasure to find them out... |

It's about time... |
|
Darn, laziness completely struck me! But, once in a while, Siemens25 freshens up... It's been some time since last news here (almost four months! Wow!), but not everything is stopped. Siemens25 should now be "findable" by search engines. Some more logos came in (one of which submitted by the audience), I've found a link to another interesting site about the S25 (automated translation here), and there is now the official FAQ list for the S25. How's that for news? ;-)
P.S. There's other news, albeit small... I've got a new e-mail signature, unashamedly copied from here... I hope WarhawkPPC doesn't mind! :-) |

Happy Birthday! |
|
It's been one year since the new Siemens25 was launched; and a few things have happened in the meantime: among others, I bought an S55 (but the S25 is still in my heart), Xinho (it's pronounced "sheenho"), the cat, has joined the family, and, last month, Pirolito, one of our five parakeets, left it (but Xinho had nothing to do with it). :´( Anyways, let's get back to happy thoughts. Life goes on. As you might have read in the forum (you check the forum once in a while, don't you?), I promised something special for today. Well, it's nothing special; just a facelift for the main site logo (to better express the idea of "pixelated letters"), a palette change for the other sublogos (like the "news" above) for the S25's, a bunch of new S25 logos (two of which are my creation), and the first user contribution to the site! Thanks Vigo! Happy Birthday, Siemens25! |

Two new sections |
|
It's been more than two moths since last news on Siemens25! But, finally, I managed to get some time to do what I wanted: two new sections. One of them is Tricks, and the other is Data cable, both in the The S25 category. I've also added some items to the S25's characteristics: the colour and the MP3 reader compatibility. Also, the link to activate the Developer Menu on Siemens mobiles, including the S25, is now available. You can find it in the section Links - Software, or, if you're impatient, directly here. Finally, and to complete this update, there are 4 new logos! They're now 1396, and I still think that there's no active site with these many. |

Another few more |
|
I don't have many news to give, except that there are a few more logos, scattered through the categories. As I announced in the forum, there shall be here a new section with tricks for the S25, but that's for when I have some more time... |
|

Our saviour has returned! |
|
Yeah, right... I don't mean me, obviously, but Siemens25! Did you think this site was dead? Think again! I had exams, and now I'm in the interval on my holidays, so news were, as you can see, rare. Siemens25 has a lot of new logos, mostly in the Vehicles category. More shall follow, if I have the time & patience. In the meantime, don't hesitate to give your contribution; it'll be appreciated. |

Another delay |
|
As
supposedly you saw at the forum, I wasn't able to bring this week's news
update in time... I'm getting quite sloppy with Siemens25's updates! Honestly,
I'm also getting kind of exhausted with all this: every week I bring
something new to the site, there are people visiting it, but nobody ever
tells anything... I feel I'm talking to myself! Perhaps I'll post news
more rarely, but with bigger updates. "Quicker" news will be in
the forum. On
a lighter, not-so-much-related note: on July the 3rd, Siemens will present
in Moscow three new mobile phones. You'll have all the news here,
as well as, as usual, on Club
Siemens. Lastly,
here's what might be well the last lone weekly logo:

Almost! |
|
Tomorrow (Friday), there will be a holiday here in Lisbon, Portugal, thus I won't be here for an extended weekend; so, you get anticipated news! Almost all logos have the new palette: perhaps next week they'll be all converted (saying this, I seem like a religious fanatic... Muhahahaha!). |
|
|
2003/06/07 |
THE PROCESS continues |
|
Another few categories are changed to the new palette... but there's so much work still left! You know that, if you have any comment, complaint, question, request, etc., you can contact me by e-mail, or now also through the forum. Ah, speaking of e-mail... now I have a new address, perhaps easier to remember: siemens25@netcabo.pt. All links with my address must be already updated. Even so, I can still receive from the old address. |

Forum and more stuff |
|
This is something I've already wanted to do, practically since I launched the new Siemens25, but I've never had the patience... however, here's Siemens25's official forum, finally! Visit it, and express your oppinions! This week was (once again) busy, with two tests, one of them quite important. So, there wasn't time to continue the logos' change to the new palette. |
|
|
2003/05/24 |
Some new stuff |
|
Unlike last week, this one wasn't so busy, so there are more logos with the new palette: Brands, Comics, Communications, Food e Love. You can also get the new palette in the section Do It Yourself - Logos. It's been some time since I discovered an extremely useful program for the S25 (and also almost every other Siemens until the S55), but I never remembered to place it's link here: VisSie! It's site is, unfortunately, in German, but at it's bottom there's an English translation. The link is already in the section Links - Software. |

Better colours, please |
|
This has been a rather busy week for me, because I had two tests... arrgh! But I've managed to get some time to start the logo updating: the Animals/Plants section is done. I was already thinking some time ago about changing the images' palettes to get the most equal possible to the S25's... but changing a big bunch of images is a bit lengthy work! However, I'm not going to change the site's colours, because that's a lot more work! Do you think the logos are better off with the original bright colours, or, instead, with these, supposedly more realistic? Give me your opinion! |
|
|
2003/05/10 |
New logo |
|
This is one of those weeks in which there are no news... I'm thinking about a logo updating, but it's quite a lot of work without an automated image editing program and, frankly, I haven't had many news from your side! |
|
|
2003/05/03 |
No more popups (almost) |
|
Sorry for not updating last week... I went on holidays to Barcelona, Spain, and, anyway, you already had the "Easter Collection" to keep yourself busy... But there's another update, and you must have already noticed: there aren't any more annoying popups appearing each time you click on a link! I guess this makes up for the "dry" week. Another effect of visiting Barcelona is that now I have a new mobile. In my opinion, it's the only worthy successor to the S25: the S55! But don't worry, I'll still make/adapt new S25 logos every week. Continuing
the tradition, here's you-know-what: And remember: your feedback is always appreciated! |

Happy Easter! |
|
(The title is to be read with the duckling's voice of the Tom & Jerry cartoons.) This
week I'm a bit ahead of schedule, as I'll be away for the weekend; so
here's this week's logo: Nope, these Easter eggs aren't Siemens25's promised Easter egg... ;) Here's the story: Club-Siemens, possibly the biggest and best source for news, logos, ringtones, tricks, etc. for Siemens mobiles, no longer supports the S25. It's logos are now only in archived form. So I asked Molna, Club-Siemens' webmaster, if I could publish them on Siemens25, and he said yes! Here they are, all of them! So here it is: there isn't just one new logo, it's more than 1000 (one thousand) new logos! That's why I took so much time publishing them. I had to classify them, change their palettes to match the other logos', and retouch one or another. Many are still quite "monochrome", specially the vehicle brands and sports clubs ones, as I don't know their original colours. Shame on me! I count on you to help me with that... In conclusion, Siemens25 hosts now exactly 1219 logos. I don't like to bet, but this is perhaps the biggest S25 logo collection on the net! |

Is anybody out there? |
|
Ever
since I renewed Siemens25, I haven't received any feedback. I know that
this is an ever-older mobile, but it's still used, and this site has
received a few daily visits. I have to say that it was the comments from
the people that signed the guestbook
(thank you! :)
) that encouraged me to renew the site's looks and content. Sign
the guestbook! Send me e-mail!
Make comments, appraise or criticize the site, send
news/logos/ringtones/bugs/tricks for the S25! Don't be shy! Ah,
speaking of e-mail: when you write me (siemens25@netcabo.pt),
please include in the "Subject" line some expression that
relates the e-mail with Siemens25 (an example is exactly that: Siemens25).
That way, I'll know that it's not another "lonely housewife", or
other spam like that. Grrr! This
week's logo is specially dedicated to those "big" loves! |

Spring time! |
|
Actually, it began yesterday... I don't know if that's the reason, but somehow I got inspiration to create a new section on the site: S25 bugs! It's on the (also new) The S25 category. As
for the (now traditional) weekly logo, an addition to Siemens25's largest
logo collection: |

Another logo... |
|
Like two weeks ago, there aren't many news... although I'm thinking about a new section on the site... |

New logo |
|
Not many news this week (apart from the SX1's launch)... just a new logo, going to the Music section.

Repaired link and new logo |
|
As soon as Siemens25's new version was opened, it had already a broken link! It's fixed, but, due to it's caracteristics, I leave to you the emotion of finding it.
In other news, here's the first
weekly logo:
You can find it in the Logos - Love section. |
|
|
2003/02/15 |
Plastic surgery and more logos |
|
As you can see, I haven't been all this time doing nothing! There's been a big obstacle to the site's updating, called "exam season"... If you have any commentaries about the site's new format, don't hesitate to tell then to me. Accompanying the new design, there are new logos, turning even bigger an already big collection. Speaking of logos, I hope to add a new logo to the collection every week. |
